Job Summary/Basic Function:

• Supervises, leads, and evaluates full- and part-time counselors and selected classified staff;
• Oversees local, state, and national tests and testing programs;
• Advises/counsels and provides information to currently enrolled and prospective students;
• Develops and Recommends budget for counseling and testing to the Dean, Student Success;
• Monitors budget balances;
• Serves on formal and informal college committees representing Counseling and Testing;
• Performs other duties of a similar nature or level as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Counseling or related field
• Counseling and guidance on related fields such as sociology, psychology, Behavioral science, or education assessment (2-5 years)
• Knowledge of administration, interpretation, and management of standardized testing programs;
• Knowledge of student development theory, enrollment, and retention strategies;
• Understanding diverse student populations and their Need, including underrepresented and non-traditional students;
• Knowledge of theories and techniques in academic, career, and personal counseling including crisis intervention and mental health support strategies;
• Knowledge of higher education systems, particularly community colleges and academic and support services integration;
• Excellent communication skills;
• Counseling skills required to understand students needs;
• Ability to lead, supervise, and evaluate counseling and testing staff;
• Ability to manage multiple programs, initiatives, and deadlines.

Physical Demands:
Able to traverse campus, lifting, carrying, reaching, handling, fine dexterity, bending, vision, hearing, talking, and ability to drive off-campus to meetings.
