Job Description Summary: The GIS System Administrator is responsible for designing, implementing, documenting, and maintaining Austin Community College (ACC)'s Geographic Information System (GIS) to support educational and administrative functions.

Job Description
We are seeking a full-time, in-office, GIS System Administrator with proven experience managing and administering GIS initiatives at an organizational level. The GIS System Administrator works under the supervision of the Digital Information Manager and alongside the GIS Coordinator and GIS Interns in ACC's Facilities Information Systems (FIS) department.
As our GIS program grows, we recognize the need for an experienced GIS System Administrator to develop systems and standards for data integrity and to increase our GIS capabilities with optimization, automation, and customization.
The FIS department works on solving complex challenges related to Indoor GIS, wayfinding, and asset management. We have developed a robust set of digital floor plans and indoor routing networks in the ArcGIS Indoors data model and have begun pilot-testing an Indoor Positioning System (IPS) using Bluetooth beacons. Our interdepartmental GIS system at ACC consists of ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and ESRI out-of-the-box solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate on developing integrated solutions to ACC's GIS priorities, including Indoor GIS, IPS, wayfinding, asset management, and compliance initiatives.
- Design, implement, document, and maintain geospatial databases and associated datasets.
- Enhance organizational efficiency through process optimization and automation techniques.
- Lead the planning, coordination, and implementation of updates and changes to the GIS production system.
- Manage and maintain GIS architecture to meet the needs of internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure adherence to data standards, workflows, processes, and security protocols across all GIS system users.
- Oversee, document, and analyze GIS process flows to identify areas for improvement.
- Recommend process enhancements and develop automated technical solutions to improve system performance.
- Establish and enforce data governance policies and procedures to maintain data integrity and ensure the department delivers high-quality services.
- Administer AGOL account roles and permissions, manage data within the system, and maintain base maps, styles, and layers while ensuring data security.
- Create, refine, and evaluate map templates, GIS workflows, and quality control protocols.
- Diagnose and resolve performance and accuracy issues in spatial data and GIS applications.
- Configure and expand ArcGIS capabilities, including the development of custom GIS solutions tailored to organizational needs.
- Assist in organizing, designing, and processing field data to support GIS projects.
- Stay current with advancements in AGOL, ArcGIS Enterprise/Portal, and related technologies through continuous learning.
- Perform related tasks as assigned to support GIS objectives and operations.
Knowledge
- Broad familiarity with the Esri platform, software, data formats, and product offerings.
- Thorough understanding of modern principles and best practices of geospatial administration and database management.
- Ability to script, build, and troubleshoot integrated automations.
- Must possess the required knowledge and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
Technology Skills
- Expertise with AGOL and ArcGIS Pro, geospatial data, and APIs.
- Geospatial database and data management using tools such as SQL, FME, and ESRI's Data Interoperability tool.

Required Work Experience
- Three years related work experience.
Preferred Work Experience
- Three years of GIS administration experience.
- Experience with CAD/BIM software, CAD/BIM integration with GIS, ArcGIS Indoors, Model Builder, AGOL Developer Tools Arcade, Windows PowerShell, ESRI Notebooks, and building, monitoring, and administering an ArcGIS Enterprise GIS system.
- Experience designing, executing, and supporting complex GIS functions.
Required Education
Preferred Education
- Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, or related fields.
Other Preferred Qualifications
- ESRI Certifications such as ArcGIS Online Administration Associate, Enterprise Administration Professional, or similar.
Physical Requirements
- Work is performed in a standard office environment.
- Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
- Occasional outdoor fieldwork may be required.
- Lifting of objects up to 20 pounds.

$68,731 - $85,913
