Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) is seeking a visionary, student-centered, full-time, 9-month, in-person, tenure-track History Instructor who can bring the past to life through innovative, interdisciplinary teaching.
This isn't just about teaching world history (though you'll do that too). We're looking for someone who can bridge history with digital tools, data analysis, and emerging technologies - including artificial intelligence - to help students connect historical inquiry with modern career skills. Whether integrating qualitative and quantitative research methods, collaborating with colleagues in other disciplines, or guiding students in the use of digital archives and visual media, you will help reimagine what a 21st-century history education can be.
Why Join TMCC?

Key Responsibilities
- Teach 30 (15/15) credit or contact hours during the academic year in various modalities as assigned, including in-person (required), hybrid, online, live-virtual, and dual-credit high school courses, per the needs of the program.
- Teach across historical fields - world, European, American, and other areas as needed.
- Integrate digital tools, data analysis, and emerging technologies (including AI) into historical instruction.
- Support student learning outcomes assessment processes by teaching toward approved learning outcomes and assessing student performance.
- Assist with curriculum and program review, revision, and assessment. Aid in the development of new course materials and innovative instructional techniques that improve student learning.
- Collaborate with faculty across disciplines to design innovative courses and programming.
- Work closely with department peers and administrators to become an effective teacher and contributing member of the academic unit.

- Participate in department, division, and college service, including recruitment and retention efforts.
- Hold 5 regular office hours for student advising and support per week.
- Engage in professional development to stay current in both historical scholarship and evolving teaching technologies. Complete training outlined in TMCC's Faculty Standards of Online Instruction, when and as needed.
- Attend and actively participate in College events, department and division meetings, college or Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) committees, and community service activities.
- Travel occasionally to community and workforce sites, conferences, events, and so on, per the needs of the program.
- Communicate and interact in a professional and collegial manner with faculty, students, staff, and administration, in the best interests of the college and the people it serves.
- Comply with departmental administrative responsibilities and published college and NSHE policies and procedures.
- Uphold the Mission, Vision, and Values of TMCC and perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with them.
